Industrial Coatings
Industrial coatings encompass automotive coatings, wood coatings, floor coatings, anti-corrosion metal coatings, plastic coatings, architectural latex paints and coil coatings. Formulated with resins, pigments and dispersing/wetting additives, they form protective films that provide decoration, insulation and rust prevention to shield substrates. High-speed mixing, spray application and high-filler formulations easily trap air, generating abundant microbubbles and surface foam. This directly causes film defects including pinholes, craters, orange peel and blisters, impairing adhesion, weather resistance and finished product yield.
Printing Inks
Printing inks include water-based flexographic, gravure and offset inks, surface/internal printing inks for plastics, and electronic conductive inks, and are compatible with substrates such as paper, plastic films, metal foils and non-woven fabrics. During ink grinding, circulating ink supply and high-speed printing, emulsifiers and dispersants stabilize persistent foam, resulting in defects such as white spots, missing print, matte surfaces and incomplete printing, which compromise color uniformity and film lamination performance.
Industrial Adhesives
Industrial adhesives cover waterborne acrylic adhesives, polyurethane adhesives, white latex, laminating adhesives, electronic potting compounds, epoxy structural adhesives, as well as paper/textile composite adhesives. Most systems have high viscosity; microbubbles tend to get trapped during mixing, coating and curing reactions. Post-curing consequences include hollow bonding layers, void delamination and reduced bonding strength. Bubbles in electronic potting compounds may further trigger insulation failure and component malfunctions.

General Foaming Challenges Across Three Systems
High-shear emulsification and dispersion, pumping, temperature rise, gas generation from two-component crosslinking, and air absorption by porous substrates collectively lead to persistent foam across all three material categories. Natural defoaming takes excessive time, slowing production line throughput and drastically increasing rework and scrap costs. Liquid defoamers are key functional additives that eliminate foam defects and stabilize mass production.
GUUDPOLY® liquid defoamers are available in organosilicon, polyether-modified silicone and mineral oil-based liquid systems to suit diverse application scenarios. They rapidly break down existing surface and large bubbles, while delivering long-term foam suppression to curb new bubble formation. In high-viscosity systems, they capture fine microbubbles suspended in the liquid that cannot rise naturally, eliminating visible finished product flaws such as coating pinholes, ink white spots and hollow adhesive bonding layers. Compatible with high-solid, high-viscosity and thick-coat/thick-adhesive working conditions, they remove both surface floating foam and internal microbubbles simultaneously.
A single dosage maintains persistent anti-foam performance throughout high-speed stirring, circulating pumping and high-temperature curing, preventing secondary foaming during processing without requiring supplementary additive top-ups. This enables stable continuous assembly line production, making the product suitable for long-duration grinding, circulating ink supply and multi-layer coating processes.
GUUDPOLY® liquid defoamers integrate wetting and leveling effects to improve the spreadability of coatings and inks. Organosilicon-modified liquid defoamers are suitable for waterborne and solvent-based industrial paints, efficiently eliminating microbubbles generated during spraying to produce smooth, glossy coatings. Silicon-free polyether variants are ideal for high-gloss, clear topcoats, preventing loss of recoating adhesion caused by silicone migration. 3. Industrial Adhesives
The defoamers leave colloidal molecular structures intact without reducing the initial and ultimate tack strength of adhesives. They achieve deep defoaming in high-viscosity potting compounds and laminating adhesives, yielding void-free, delamination-free cured layers. Resistant to acidic, alkaline and water-based adhesive systems, they prevent persistent hollow defects in paper, textile and electronic composite bonding, extending the service life of bonded components.
