Extrusion
Extrusion molding is a continuous production process in which mixed raw materials are extruded through a die under high shear, high pressure and heating to form uniform strips, tubes, granules or special-shaped profiles. Its main applications in the construction industry include extruded profiles made from dry-mix mortar, decorative moldings, extruded cement boards, and extruded ceramic bodies (raw materials for wall and floor tiles).

Extrusion Molding
Extrusion molding is a continuous production process in which mixed raw materials are extruded through a die under high shear, high pressure and heating to form uniform strips, tubes, granules or special-shaped profiles. Its main applications in the construction industry include extruded profiles made from dry-mix mortar, decorative moldings, extruded cement boards, and extruded ceramic bodies (raw materials for wall and floor tiles).
The extrusion molding process imposes stringent multi-dimensional requirements on the rheological, processing and post-forming properties of raw mud to prevent production defects. The mixture must have moderate plasticity and low internal friction to cut extrusion resistance, reduce equipment load, avoid surface tearing of extruded strips and prevent die blockage. The system must retain water evenly and release moisture slowly to maintain stable plasticity throughout the feeding and extrusion processes. Freshly extruded green bodies need good shape retention and sufficient basic mechanical strength to prevent sagging, bending or deformation under their own weight. Thin-walled and vertical long profiles require adequate supporting strength before drying or curing.

GOODCEL® Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose (HPMC) acts as the core functional additive for extrusion molding, and fully meets all the performance requirements listed above. In addition, the balanced water retention capacity of HPMC slows down the overall drying rate and balances internal shrinkage stress inside green bodies, which significantly reduces drying shrinkage and prevents large-area cracking during high-temperature ceramic firing and construction material curing. HPMC stabilizes and evenly disperses tiny microbubbles within the system, inhibits the formation of large air pockets and hollow voids, and improves the compactness and surface smoothness of extruded finished products.
